Theoretical derivation of Darcy's law for fluid flow in thin porous media

چکیده

In this paper we study stationary incompressible Newtonian fluid flow in a thin porous media. The media under consideration is bounded perforated 3D domain confined between two parallel plates. description of the includes small parameters: ε representing distance plates and $a_\varepsilon$ connected to microstructure such that ≪ $a_\varepsilon \ll \varepsilon$ . We consider classical setting media, i.e. -periodically distributed solid (not connected) obstacles size goal introduce version unfolding method, depending on both parameters , then derive corresponding 2D Darcy law.

Examination of Darcys law for flow in porous media with variable porosity.

Henry Darcy's experimental studies in 1856 of saturated water flowthrough a homogeneous porous medium contained in a vertical column have provided the basis for the quantitative description of fluid flow in a wide variety of both natural and engineered porous medium environmental systems. Extrapolation of Darcy's original observations and conclusions has led to several commonly applied equation...

Coupling Fluid Flow with Porous Media Flow

The transport of substances back and forth between surface water and groundwater is a very serious problem. We study herein the mathematical model of this setting consisting of the Stokes equations in the fluid region coupled with the Darcy equations in the porous medium, coupled across the interface by the Beavers–Joseph–Saffman conditions. We prove existence of weak solutions and give a compl...

Mathematical Modeling for Laminar Flow of Power Law Fluid in Porous Media

In this paper, the macroscopic equations for laminar power-law fluid flow is obtained for a porous medium starting from traditional equations (Navier-Stokes). Then, the volume averaging is applied in traditional transport equations with the power-law fluid model. This procedure leads to macroscopic transport equations set for nonNewtonian fluid.

Transient Fluid Flow in Heterogeneous Porous Media

A stable Alternating Direction Implicit finite-difference algorithm is used to model transient fiuid flow in heterogeneous porous media. In connection with the laboratory system for pressure transient testing of core permeability, the effects of permeability heterogeneities on the characteristics of the pressure transient were investigated. The results show that the early portion of the pressur...

Cellular Automaton Model for Fluid Flow in Porous Media

A cellular automaton model for the simulation of fluid flow in porous media is presented. A lattice and a set of rules are int roduced, such th at the flow equations in the continuum limit are formally the same as the equations for one-phase liquid flow in porous media. The model is valid in two as well as th ree dimensions. Numerical calculatio ns of some simple problems are presented and comp...
